Love this chart.

U.S. Eductation spending plotted against reading and maths scores.

U.S. Eductation spending plotted against reading and maths scores.

We should all know that on the scale of big, fat lies there are lies, damn lies, statistics and then there are charts. The scales are meaningless to me — is a reading score of 500 good, bad, genius, meaningless? I’ve no clue. But the people that believe in government spending also seem to believe in testing and scores and bullshit stats so hopefully it makes them question their assumptions.

I wouldn’t hold my breath them, for the retarded could simply imagine what it would be like if spending hadn’t increased. Perhaps something like this.

Spending remains steady and scores drop through the floor?

Spending remains steady and scores drop through the floor?

And then cry out in their shrill voices. ‘Increases in spending have done their job and maintained our education system. But if we want to improve we must spend more.’
